The Story of AllecramMarcella Cotton Executive Director and Founder
Born and raised in Lansing, MI, Marcella Cotton grew up as the youngest of three children. Her mother, father, and grandfather played an instrumental role in shaping her character, work ethic, and uninhibited creative expression. She learned key character virtues from all three elders. Her mother taught her spiritual principles and nurturing; she learned the essence of humility and respect for others from her father, and her grandfather demonstrated kindness and selflessness. Marcella’s strength, resiliency, persistence, and compassion for others are a direct result of all three parental influences.
As an adolescent, Marcella learned the value and reward in helping others. Her dedication to service was demonstrated by her commitment to community service and assisting others regardless of their circumstances. She has obtained two degrees in business and accumulated over twenty five years of experience in the insurance industry, including twenty years of service in a managerial role.
Marcella currently resides in Birmingham, AL. She is the mother of two adult daughters who match her passion for service, community empowerment, and continued education.
